Moodle is the Mount’s learning management system where students can see their course content, join online discussions, submit assignments, complete quizzes or tests, and join a class meeting.

Where do I need to login to see my classes?

To access your courses, login to Moodle using your MyMount email and password.

How do I see my courses?

The courses you have been registered in will appear in the ‘In progress’ tab of the Course overview section of your Moodle Dashboard.

  • If you can’t see your course in the ‘In progress’ tab, change it to ‘All’
  • If it is before the first day of class, your course site might still be hidden by the instructor.

I can’t see my course. Who do I contact?

Login to MyMount to see the list of courses you have successfully registered for. If it is not listed, contact the registrar’s office to check the status of your course registration Registration@msvu.ca

Where does our online class meet?

Each Moodle site has a link near the top labelled Collaborate Course Room. Follow these steps:

  • Use Google Chrome to open your Moodle course site.
  • Click the puzzle piece labelled Collaborate Course Room.
  • Click “Course Room” or “Join Course Room”.
  • Allow browser permissions for audio and video.
  • Use the purple tab to access chat, attendee list, and settings.
  • Click the top-left menu to access class recordings.

Where can I get more help with Collaborate?

Check the Collaborate support page and the Mount’s Home Networking Tips. For access issues, email helpdesk@msvu.ca.

An online course requires you to be actively engaged, which means you will benefit having the following:

  • Quiet workspace.
  • Internet connection.
  • Regular access to a computer.  Courses are designed for computers, and not all features will be optimized for use with a tablet or mobile device.
  • Access to web browsers. Chrome, Firefox and Edge.
  • Headset with a microphone.
  • Mount email address. All Mount classes require that students correspond with their instructor using their Mount email address.

Contact your instructor for specific technology (computer, audio, video, webcam, software, etc.) requirements.

Check the events calendar at the MSVU library. They often have workshops for improving digital skills such as a recent workshop on Basic Computing Skills and Using Office 365 Products.
