The department of Business Administration & Tourism and Hospitality Management hosts an annual Sustainability Business Tour for Business & Tourism students. During the tour, students will have an opportunity to learn about sustainability, the impact of small business on rural communities, and how various beverages are made.
It was an amazing Sustainable Business tour of the South Shore, visiting AtlanTick, Lunenburg County Winery and having lunch at the Old Fish Factory. These entrepreneurs have thrived in Nova Scotia due to their exceptional planning and fantastic business ideas. Thank you for the hands-on learning experience, AtlanTick, your story of success is inspiring. Thank you for the tour and tasting Lunenburg County Winery, you have a beautiful farm and your products are delicious. And thank you for the delicious lunch Old Fish Factory, we are certainly glad that we got to visit before your seasonal closing. Special shout out to our bus driver Shawn from Coach Atlantic who navigated the back roads like a pro!

Business Administration and Tourism & Hospitality Management students headed off to Lunenburg for this year’s annual Sustainable Business Tour! Students learned from leaders at Terra Beata Farms, the Shipwright Brewing Company, and the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic about the positive impact that small businesses have on rural communities. During the tour, students got the chance to check out the Terra Beata cranberry fields and processing facility, see how Shipwright Brewing Company brews its beer, and learn all about tourism opportunities at the museum. Students and staff also enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Old Fish Factory Restaurant. Thank you to our Lunenburg business partners for an amazing and educational day!

Students learned from leaders at Schoolhouse Brewery, Bent Ridge Winery, Annapolis Valley Cider Company and Tangled Gardens about the positive impact that small businesses have on rural communities and the demand for local product and venue space post pandemic. Students and faculty sampled delicious food and beverages made in Nova Scotia and learned about the process of creating these products. These tours provide students with a simulation of an existing location. During October 22 virtual tours, students had the opportunity to “meet” Adam Bower from the Grand Banker and Max Rastelli from Segway Nova Scotia.
Our virtual tour hosts used multimedia elements such as sound effects, music, narration to make this an experience like none other.
