Blackboard Collaborate Update

The TLCOL launched the use of Blackboard Collaborate Ultra in the fall. The new version of Collaborate is replacing Collaborate Classic version, which will be phased out during the 2018/19 academic year. Collaborate Ultra is an online version of the software that opens directly in your internet browser meaning there is no need to install launcher software as was needed with Collaborate Classic. Collaborate Ultra offers a range of improvements including enhanced video and audio quality and accessibility features. Here are some notes for those using the Collaborate Ultra for the first time:

  • Access to Ultra is different depending on the type of device you are using
  • Ultra functions best using an internet browser like Google Chrome
  • An app needs to be downloaded if you are using a tablet (such as an iPad)
