You can also choose to study tourism through our other programs. You can work toward a certificate, a diploma or a concentration within a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Before you make your final choice, you should talk to a faculty advisor to help you plan a program that’s right for you. There is a growing need for university-educated professionals in the tourism and hospitality industry. With the Mount’s Bachelor of Tourism & Hospitality Management program, you will get a strong foundation in business while you learn about tourism development and hospitality management. You will graduate with a thorough understanding of the key areas of the industry.

You must complete 20 units of academic course work and three co-operative education work experiences. If you have previous industry-related experience and are admitted to the work experience route, you must complete 20 units of academic course work and two work experience terms as part of your program. You will be required to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in 8 units of required courses including 4 units of tourism and hospitality electives. You must also meet all requirements for co-operative education to graduate.

The diploma program is the ideal choice to acquire specialized knowledge in the tourism and hospitality fields.

  1. If you have work experience in tourism and hospitality and you want to further your education.
  2. You already have a bachelor’s degree in another discipline.
  3. You have completed the Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality program and want to further your tourism education.

Admission requirements for the Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management are the same as for the Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management. If you are a transfer student or do not have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline, you must have a GPA of 2.0 over 3.0 units. Please refer to 2.1.4 Admission Requirements and 2.1.6 Additional Admission Requirements.

 

If you are currently in a degree program, you can take the Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management at the same time. You can also take the diploma program part-time or full-time through distance education.

If you want to explore the concepts of tourism and hospitality management but can’t make a greater financial or time investment, the Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management is perfectly suited for you. This 6.0 unit program will provide you with a solid introduction to the theories of tourism and hospitality management. Admission requirements for the Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management are the same as for the Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management. If you are currently in a degree program, you can take the Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management at the same time. You can also take the certificate program part-time or full-time through distance education.

Admission requirements for the Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management are the same as for the Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management. Please refer to 2.1.4 Admission Requirements and 2.1.6 Additional Admission Requirements.

Students who have graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University with a Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management degree may apply to do an honours certificate. Students must fulfill the requirements for the honours degree listed above and meet the university regulations regarding honours certificates.

Students can do a minor in any Department in the University. Students should consult that Department about the minor requirements in that area. A minimum GPA of 2.0 must be obtained. (Please note: extra courses may be required to complete your minor).

In your second year you will be eligible to enter the Co-operative Education program which alternates terms in the classroom with hands-on paid work opportunities in your field of study that consists of a minimum of 13 weeks of full-time employment. The program consists of 23.0 units of study over four years. You graduate with one full year of relevant work experience. That alone will make it easier for you to find the starting position you want.
