February 2021, integrated knowledge translation workshop with grant holdersIn February 2021, the principal research investigators (Dr. Phillip Joy and Dr. Shannan Grant) hosted an integrated knowledge translation (iKT) workshop with grant holders (community partners and collaborators). The Knowledge Translation (KT) planning template was used as a guide to discuss project partners, degree of partner engagement and their roles, knowledge users (i.e., end-users of project results), KT goals and strategies, resources, and more.

In August 2021, the principal research investigators (Dr. Phllip Joy and Dr. Shannan Grant) and Research Coordinator (Jessica Mannette) held a Community-Based Stakeholder Meeting to discuss stakeholder engagement and participatory approaches.

In July 2022, Jessica and Gloria (Research Coordinator and Research Assistant) joined the MSVU walking group in the Pride parade as part of the Halifax Pride Festival.

 

In September 2022, our Research Coordinator (Jessica Mannette) facilitated a Grant Holders Meeting with collaborators and community partners to provide an update on the project’s progress and collect feedback on the FoodNOW Questionnaire (Phase 4 of the project).

 

In February 2023, our team visited the Museum of Natural History as part of a social and team building activity.

 

In August 2023, our Research Coordinator (Abigail Clarke) hosted a virtual meeting with project partners and collaborators to provide feedback on an infographic of results (project phases 1-4).

In April 2022, one of our Research Assistants (Abigail Clarke) presented at the Science Atlantic Conference. She shared the results from interviews with service providers who are involved with programs for people living with HIV or AIDS. This research was part of Phase 3 of the FoodNOW project. In December 2022, we presented project updates at the FoodNOW World AIDS Day Workshop Event held on Mount Saint Vincent University campus (December 1st).

 

In December 2022, the scoping review manuscript titled “Exploring current nutritional programming and resources available to people living with HIV or AIDS in Canada: a scoping review” was accepted for publication in JBI Evidence Synthesis. The article was then officially published in October 2023.

In February 2023, the FoodNOW project was showcased in a MSVU Media Centre news article. The article talked about the need for FoodNOW, student involvement in the project, and the impact of FoodNOW on the community. To read the article, click here.

 

In March 2023, our paper titled “The cost of a nutritious diet for households including people living with HIV/AIDS in Nova Scotia: Findings and Lessons Learned by FoodNOW 2020 to 2022” with the Canadian Journal of Dietetic Practice and Research.

In August 2023, we developed an easy-to-read handout detailing the results from phases 1-4, which can be used as a tool to advocate for nutrition and food program development for people living with HIV or AIDS.
