Over the four years you study for a Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management, you’ll receive in-depth education in the many facets of this booming industry. From planning and marketing to operations, you will learn the skills and knowledge you need to forge a career in a multi-billion dollar global industry.

You can also choose to study tourism through our other programs. You can work toward a certificate, a diploma or a concentration within a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Before you make your final choice, you should talk to a faculty advisor to help you plan a program that’s right for you.

Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management Degree

There is a growing need for university-educated professionals in the tourism and hospitality industry. With the Mount’s Bachelor of Tourism & Hospitality Management  program, you will get a strong foundation in business while you learn about tourism development and hospitality management. You will graduate with a thorough understanding of the key areas of the industry.

You must complete 20 units of academic course work and three co-operative education work experiences.  If you have previous industry-related experience and are admitted to the practica route, you must complete 20 units of academic course work and two practica as part of your program.   You will be required to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in 8 units of required courses including 4 units of tourism and hospitality electives. You must also meet all requirements for co-operative education to graduate.

Concentration or General Degree

When you enroll in our degree program, you have the choice of completing a general degree or choosing an area of concentration in either Tourism Development or Hospitality Management. You don’t have to decide until your third year in the Bachelor’s program.

If you have a clear idea of what part of the industry you want to work in, choosing a Concentration will give you enhanced knowledge in your field.

If you haven’t decided which part of the industry you will build your career, a general degree gives you a broad base of knowledge which helps keep all your options open.

If you fall into one of three categories, the diploma program is the ideal choice to acquire specialized knowledge in the tourism and hospitality fields.

 1. If you have work experience in tourism and hospitality and you want to be a part-time student.

 2. You already have a bachelor’s degree in another discipline.

 3. You have completed the Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality program and want to further your tourism education.

You will receive a thorough understanding of the industry, which will prepare you well for a successful career.

Admission requirements for the Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management are the same as for the Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management.  If you are a transfer student or do not have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline, you must have a GPA of 2.0 over 3.0 units.  If you are currently in a degree program, you can take the Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management at the same time. You can also take the diploma program part-time or full-time through distance education.

Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management
If you want to explore the concepts of tourism and hospitality management but can’t make a greater financial or time investment, the Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management is perfectly suited for you. This 6.0 unit program will provide you with a solid introduction to the theories of tourism and hospitality management.  Admission requirements for the Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management are the same as for the Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management.  If you are currently in a degree program, you can take the Certificate in Tourism and Hospitality Management at the same time. You can also take the certificate program part-time or full-time through distance education.

Bachelor of Business Administration with a Concentration in Tourism and Hospitality Management
