Centre for Academic Advising and Student Success

Psychology majors who are registering for units 0.5 through 10.0 (inclusive) should receive advising via the Centre for Academic Advising and Student Success.


Academic advising with Psychology faculty

Psychology majors who are registering for units 10.5 or higher should receive advising from a faculty advisor. By sending an email to psyc.advising@msvu.ca, Marisa will connect you with your advisor.

Applying to Honours

Psychology majors who are considering applying for Honours should review the information and application form located here. Applications are due by the first Friday in February of the calendar year in which you hope to be accepted (i.e. Feb 2023 for September 2023 acceptance).

It is strongly recommended to meet with a faculty advisor during the Fall term before you apply for honours.

Student markers

Student markers are normally hired before classes start each September. If you are interested in becoming a student marker for a 1000 or 2000 level Psychology course, please contact Donna Thompson.


Research assistantships

Faculty sometimes hire student research assistants to work on specific projects. If you are interested in working with a faculty member on their research, please contact the faculty member directly. Information on faculty research can be found via individual faculty profiles, located here.

Annual Psychology Student Research Conference

On Reading Day every April, the Psychology department hosts an in-house research conference to showcase the hard work of our students. A programme of this year’s event can be found here.


Science Atlantic (formerly APICS)

Science Atlantic is a charitable organization that endeavours to support science departments across Atlantic Canada.  The Psychology Division of Science Atlantic has been supporting faculty and student research since 1964!
