Teaching Experience
One of the important features of the Bachelor of Education program here at the Mount is the combination of the theoretical and the practical aspects of teaching and learning. During the two-year program you will have the opportunity to work with experienced teachers in a variety of classroom settings for approximately twenty weeks.
We work with many schools primarily throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality and almost exclusively with the Halifax Regional School Board in the first year of the program. It is possible to apply for a practicum experience outside of the Halifax Regional Municipality in the second year. The final decision will rest on the ability of the facutly of educations Practicum Coordinator to find a suitable educational host environment and to secure a suitable university supervisor in the vicinity of the host school.
Check out our practicum guidebook.
Practicum forms can be found here.
Mount Goes to Nunavut!
The Faculty of Education at the Mount has been developing links with the Canadian Eastern Arctic for the past two years and, now thanks to sponsorships, is working on developing a full-time travel bursary program to enable Bachelor of Education students to explore their professional interest in teaching in Nunavut.
