The Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Studies at MSVU is a four-year degree exploring how culture shapes and is shaped by society.

Students explore the meaning of art and culture through critical lenses examining issues such as power, social justice, and the social, political, and economic context of art and culture making.

Students can study film, music, art, and visual culture, as well as critical theory. From pop culture to movies to hip hop to fantasy worlds and games to animal studies to Black and Indigenous cultures, students in Cultural Studies draw on literature, religion, philosophy, politics, sociology, women’s and gender studies and more to understand culture and the world around them.
