African Drumming

Rhythm, energy, teamwork, coordination! Improve these and more in African Drumming with a teacher who brings experience and knowledge of traditional West African Rhythms.  In a fun and relaxed environment, you will learn the history of the drum, proper sounds and drumming technique.  Drums will be provided if you do not have one.

Get ready to smile your way to healthy with this new twist on fitness! This class is half ZUMBA dance fitness (taking the ‘work’ out of workout and having a calorie burning party!) AND half classic STEP aerobics (basic to intermediate level routines). Sweat your way out of any stressful day with these guaranteed calorie-burning workouts. Perfect if you are new to fitness OR for those who are devoted followers of ZUMBA and STEP. Zumba Toning

Zumba Toning combines body-sculpting techniques and high-energy dance moves to build strength and tone targeted areas. The class will involve intervals of cardio mixed with moves using light dumbbells. Perfect for those who want to party, but put extra emphasis on toning to define those muscles!

Pilates for Everyone

Do you want to feel strong, challenged, and energized after every workout? Start with this class where you can expect a broad range of mat and vertical exercises. With a concentration on core strength and stability, this class incorporates all the fundamental principles of a Pilates movement system into exciting and flowing sequences. Pilates on the Ball

Using stability balls as our central prop for class, we will work on stabilizing and strengthening the deep core cylinder muscles that support our spine. This class will help to develop your breath, strength, mobility, balance, and proprioception. See the results through improved posture, body/mind awareness, muscle recruitment and overall physical performance.

Traditional Yoga

Jeannine’s yoga classes consist of postures, breath practice, guided relaxation and guided meditation. Her greatest focus is to teach a yoga practice that will promote health and lead to harmony and alignment with one’s innermost being.

Yoga for Stress Reduction

A gentle yet flowing class that incorporates breath work, asana poses and restorative practice. We will take the time to listen to the body’s cues and build towards developing physical, emotional, mental awareness while balancing and supporting nervous system regulation. Appropriate for all levels.

Self Defense for Women

The “Women’s Awareness Survival Program” is a 4 hour workshop focusing on proven, evidence-based tactics. Learn the crucial self-defense skills of assertiveness, situational awareness and combat training. Program includes a 60 page PDF resource manual. 

*Age 13-15:  Must be accompanied by a parent/guardian registered for the program.

*Ages 16-17:  a parent/guardian must complete an Informed Consent Registration Form allowing participation.

Aikido Club


A Japanese martial art and a form of practical non-violence. It is performed by blending  with the
motion of the attacker and redirecting the force of the attack rather than opposing it head-on.
Aikido requires very little physical strength. The techniques are completed with various throws
or joint locks.  This program is for all levels.

Pickleball Club

Join us for Pickleball, one of the fastest growing sports in North America! It is a combination of

Balance & Stretch Training

This class will target specific areas of functional fitness that are necessary for a full and balanced life.  This program will utilize equipment such as the BOSU, resistance bands and toning balls, as well as your own body weight, making it perfect for people wanting a less intense workout. With two Personal Trainers and limited enrollment, you will get personalized attention and hands on assistance making this a class for everyone and every body.  Come workout with us and you will strengthen your body, improve your balance and leave the class feeling calm, centered and full of Om.

Agility Training

Do you play a sport and wish you could improve your speed, agility & power? Or maybe you just want to train like an athlete for overall fitness benefits? This specialized program with two trainers will focus on developing the components that are consistent with reacting to unpredictable situations. Including use of the Vertimax Athletic Training platform with a pulley system designed for vertical jump and speed training (among many other exercises). Also included are assessments to measure participants’ starting and ending abilities. Great for tennis, soccer, basketball, pickleball athletes and enthusiasts, alike. Challenge yourself during this special 6 week INTRODUCTORY TRIAL and feel the results!

Fit in Fitness - Women Only

Did you know - only 90 minutes per week can make a huge difference in our fitness: physical, emotional, and mental!  In this women only program, not only will you get a great workout twice a week, but your knowledge will be enhanced through in class handouts on relevant topics. We’ll provide pre & post fitness tests, so you can feel proud of the accomplishments you are making. Included is access to a private Facebook group and mini challenges throughout to keep you on your toes. The best part is you’ll be part of a small team working with a knowledgeable, friendly, and relatable trainer to ensure that you feel supported and successful.

Body Reboot

Burn fat and tone/build muscle with this HIIT-based cardio and strength program designed to give you a MEGA-boost on your own fitness training.  Physical assessments are done at the beginning and end to showcase your progress!  Classes involve short but intense cardio intervals, full-body strength moves and an extra dose of abs at the end. You will feel invigorated, energized, stronger and maybe even quicker by the end of this program. A small group class, of no more than 10-12 people, Body Reboot has a dedicated trainer ready to provide you with training advice to help you reach your fitness goals.  Join, meet other awesome people, get your sweat on and leave feeling fit-sational!

Backstage Pass - Fitness Edition

Think you don’t belong at a gym? Don’t know how to get started? This starter program includes 5 small group classes PLUS a one-on-one session with the trainer for each participant to get a personalized fitness program to do on your own.  The classes will take you behind the scenes of our Fitness Centre to find out all the basics before you join or commit to an exercise plan. The cast includes a like-minded team of people to keep you motivated and accountable and we’ll provide you with the script for what to do & say, where to go, and how to plan.  Topics include Weight Room etiquette, strength & endurance training, cardio training, gym equipment, Group Fitness classes, exercise program planning, and exercise safety tips.

Chris Kennedy -African Drumming

For 30 years the infectious rhythm of the drums have mesmerized and captivated Chris Kennedy. He has used his passion for drumming to inspire, create, educate and entertain audiences world-wide.  For Chris drumming is not only a form of artistic expression, but a way of life. It has become a method of connecting people, preserving and protecting culture, and an exceptional vehicle to educate, entertain and engage his audience to the fullest. 

Chris’ outstanding talent, knowledge and experience is broad, deep-rooted and multi-national in scope.  He has travelled extensively though Canada, USA, The Caribbean and Africa and has honed his skills through participation in master drumming and dance workshops, internationally acclaimed performances and as a top notch clinician, facilitator and educator.  

Cynthia McGrath -Zumba Toning

Cynthia has been teaching a variety of group fitness classes since 2002. She is certified through the Nova Scotia Fitness Association and is licensed to teach Zumba and Zumba Toning.

She organizes and leads annual Zumbathon fundraisers in support of the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia and hopes to continue this event in the coming years.  

Cynthia has also volunteered for the QEII Breast Health Bust-a-Move fundraisers.  She loves exercising and being active! 

Brigitte MacInnes -multiple Team Training programs

Brigitte’s passion for health and fitness, coupled with her teaching and administrative background, led her to becoming a certified personal trainer with the Mount.  She is a certified personal trainer, group fitness and Pilates instructor.  She has also completed Reiki certification, Level 1.  

The skills obtained through her certifications allow her to create custom programs designed to meet her client’s specific goals.  Her experience ranges from working with first time exercisers to athletes to RCMP and Military candidates, and she has experience working with youth as well as older adults. 

 Brigitte believes a fit and healthy lifestyle is achievable for anyone and particularly enjoys helping beginners feel comfortable in the gym setting. Brigitte will provide you with the tools needed to kick start life changes, shake up your current routine and reach your goals, whatever they may be! 

Melissa Millar -DanceFit

Melissa is a dynamic fitness professional involved in the industry for over 20 years. Currently she is the Coordinator, Fitness and Wellness here at The Mount. She is a Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA), teaches Group Fitness, presents Fitness Workshops, and has been a YMCA Master Trainer. Melissa has degrees in Kinesiology and Dance, as well as multiple trainings through YMCA Canada, Can-Fit-Pro, ZUMBA and YogaFit. 

Melissa has a passion for teaching dance fitness and training clients of all ages and abilities. Her personal regime includes meditation and yoga and she believes in the importance of a whole health approach (body, spirit, mind together). 

Jeannine Saulnier -Traditional Yoga

Jeannine has been practicing, learning and teaching yoga for over 20 years. She has completed her
500 hour yoga teacher training at the Himalayan Institute and is now a certified Ayurveda consultant. Jeannine teaches a traditional form of yoga. She also has attended numerous trainings and has travelled to India and experienced an indescribable world of yoga and Ayurveda. She now travels to Portugal to attend satsang with her master, Mooji Baba. She has experience the transformative power of Yoga, Ayurveda and her master’s pointing’s and is now being called to share the light of the heart.
