Booking a Drop-in Appointment

Whether you are a current client at Counselling Services or not, drop-in appointments are available year-round to Mount students.

How It Works

  • Drop-in appointments are available year-round to provide support for immediate concerns that cannot wait for a regular counselling session.
  • Please note that drop-ins are limited in scope and are intended to provide direct support for a single concern or issue.
  • Counselling Services is not an emergency clinic. All emergencies (e.g., serious threats of violence, actively suicidal individuals) should be directed to a hospital emergency department or to call 911.
  • Time slots are 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, but hours may vary based on counsellor availability. Drop-in appointments must be booked a minimum of 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment time.
  • Appointments can be done by phone, video via TAO, or in-person.
  • Students having an in-person drop-in must arrive at EMF 108 at least 15 minutes before the appointment to complete the necessary forms. Students having a phone or video drop-in must email the provided forms at least 5 minutes before the appointment to counselling@msvu.ca.

How to Book

  • Email counselling@msvu.ca, call 902 457 6567, or visit the Student Services desk at EMF 108, between 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. Monday to Friday, to request a drop-in appointment.
  • Drop-in appointments must be booked a minimum of 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment time.
  • Limit of one drop-in between regular sessions if you’re a current client.
  • Drop-ins can only be booked a minimum of one week after your last appointment.
  • Appointments are booked in the order they’re requested. Once the two time slots are filled, we encourage you to request a drop-in the next day.
  • Students having an in-person drop-in must arrive at EMF 108 at least 15 minutes before the appointment to complete the necessary forms. Students having a phone or video drop-in must email the provided forms at least 5 minutes before the appointment to counselling@msvu.ca.
