No, this course is not eligible for the Mount’s Learning Passport program.

What should I expect?

You will receive a Beauceron account notification email titled “Welcome to Beauceron” asking to complete a short cybersecurity awareness survey and to take an online intro training course. The course takes less than an hour to complete, and you can save it and return anytime.

Once you have completed the survey and course, you will receive a series of three simulated phishing emails over one week, and then you will be asked to take another short, final questionnaire that will allow you to provide feedback on your experience.

From then on, you will receive a simulated phish about once a month.

What’s my Beauceron Risk Score?

Beauceron assigns you a risk score. Your risk score is based on your cybersecurity knowledge, responses to simulated attacks, your exposure level (if your email address was compromised in a data breach before), and rewards for your performance.

The lower your score, the better. You can lower your score (good) by completing the surveys, taking the intro course, reporting phishing emails to IT&S, and taking extra courses. If you click on links in the simulated phishing emails, your score will increase (bad) and you may be asked to take a remedial phishing course or survey.

A risk score lower than 650 is considered good, and between 650 and 800 is average. A score above 800 is high risk. The lower the better. 500 is the lowest score. You can take supplemental training and report phishes to phishing@msvu.ca to lower your score.

How do I report a phishing email?

To report a phishing email to IT&S, please forward it to phishing@msvu.ca. If you report a Beauceron simulated phish, you will receive credit for it on your Beauceron Risk Score. If you forward a real phish, you will also receive credit for it on your Beauceron Risk Score. If you forward an email that isn’t a phish, then your score will not be affected.

What is the difference between Beauceron initial training and refresher training?

The initial training is assigned to you when you are initially enrolled in the Beauceron cybersecurity training. For those that have completed the initial training, we offer a refresher each year to help keep you up to date on the current risks and trends in cybersecurity.
