PyCharm is an open-source IDE specifically to learn programming with Python.

Availability

PyCharm Edu downloads are available for installation on personal equipment.

On Campus Computer Labs:
PyCharm Edu is available in various computer labs on campus.
Secure access to a lab computer can be achieved remotely using the MSVU Remote Computer Access Portal from your device using your MSVU login credentials.

Faculty and Staff MSVU Computers:
PyCharm Edu can be installed on MSVU computers, please contact the IT&S Helpdesk to request a ticket for installation identifying application to be installed and asset number of computer.

Faculty, Staff and Student Personal Computers:
PyCharm Edu downloads are available for installation on personal equipment.

System Requirements

  • 64-bit versions of Microsoft Windows 10, 8, 7 (SP1)
  • 4 GB RAM minimum, 8 GB RAM recommended
  • 1.5 GB hard disk space + at least 1 GB for caches
  • 1024×768 minimum screen resolution
  • Python 2.7, or Python 3.5 or newer

Installation Requirements

Download PyCharm Edu

  • Run the .exe file that starts the installation wizard.
  • Follow the steps identified in the wizard.
