Financial Information
Financial Services Hours:Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until the end of May
Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June through August
Financial Eligibility to Register
To be eligible to register, a student must have no outstanding fees that are due and payable to the University.
Billing Process
Students will be billed for summer session courses as of April 2, 2012. After April 2, 2012, any course changes or registrations will be automatically reflected in the charges on each student’s account and can be viewed under “Account summary by term” or “Account Statement” in myMount. Hard copy billings are no longer mailed but you can print your Account Statement from myMount.
Fee Payment PolicyStudents are expected to make their payments by the deadline for each term or lose their course registrations. This ongoing policy will be strictly enforced. If registering after the deadline, students will be expected to make their payment at the time of registration. Students who have applied for a student loan but have not yet received it, or whose funding is somewhat delayed, by the payment deadline will be required to complete an agreement form with Financial Services, which will provide an extension for payment of fees to allow additional time for the loan to be received. Students are expected to have their financial arrangements in place when they register so extensions will only be granted in exceptional circumstances. Students sponsored by government, hospital or other agencies that will be paying the student’s fees directly to the Mount must present a signed statement from the sponsoring agency by the deadline, indicating the nature and extent of the sponsorship.
Late Payment and RegistrationStudents who do not pay by the fee payment deadline will be immediately assessed a $25 late fee each term. As per the Fee Payment Policy, late payment is not permitted without an approved extension by Financial Services. Where a student has been permitted by Financial Services to make her/his payment beyond the normal payment deadline, interest will be charged on the overdue balance at the rate of 1% per month compounded monthly.
Methods of PaymentPayment may be made by mail or at the Financial Services/Registrar’s Service Counter in Evaristus Hall during business hours. Payment may be made by cheque, money order, certified cheque, cash, debit card, VISA or MasterCard, but must be received by the specified deadlines. If paying by credit card, students may phone in their payments to Financial Services or through “Make a payment” in myMount. Fees may also be paid through the Internet and telephone banking services of most major chartered banks. Financial Services can also be contacted with any questions via e-mail at msvu.ca.

Distance courses are an ideal choice for students seeking to build flexible timetables as they balance study with jobs, family responsibilities, and commitments to athletics, volunteerism, and other community activities. Distance learning also makes it possible for students across Canada and around the world to pursue individual courses or complete programs without leaving home.
Distance offerings include:

- courses leading to the BA (General Studies), with minors in English, Psychology, Religious Studies and Women’s Studies; Concentrations in English and Psychology.

Distance learning technologies vary, depending on the course. Web access is required and all courses use Moodle, the online course management system. Students should consult the Course Listings page of the DLCE section of the Mount’s website to see the delivery media applicable to each course.
In addition to course activities conducted through Moodle sites, courses with section numbers 13 through 19, and 24 through 28 usually include regular real-time seminars online via Collaborate. The schedule for those sessions is included on the DLCE website. .
Courses with section numbers 20, 21 or 22 are lecture-based, and the lectures are made available as downloadble video. Moodle sites complement the lectures.
Students in distance courses purchase all books and materials from DLCE via the online bookstore at www.dlcebookstore.ca.
