A message to MSVU students, faculty and staff:

I am so excited to be starting out this new academic year with all of you!

September always brings back a sense of potential for me! With all those new textbooks, empty notebooks (go with me on this one even if you use a laptop to take your notes) and new classes and profs. Whether you are a student, faculty or staff, I hope you all enjoy the fresh start. Remember to take the opportunity to meet some new people, enjoy the view, and watch out for the crows!

Community Matters

Whether you are joining us on campus or virtually, MSVU is YOUR community!

In the spirit of belonging, we’ve recently launched a new initiative at MSVU called Community Matters. Here, connection and community aren’t just buzz words. At MSVU, they really matter. Community building among MSVU students, faculty and staff is at the core of the Community Matters initiative – it is something that sets us apart and speaks clearly to who we are.

I encourage you to check out the Community Matters webpage to learn about events, a cool “face-to-name” campaign, and other initiatives coming up in the weeks ahead, and to join in as many of these opportunities as your schedules allow. Coming up this weekend: MSVU spirit day on the soccer pitch. Come cheer on our women’s and men’s soccer teams (Sunday, Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. – details here via Facebook).

Faculty and staff – there’s a new Community Matters toolkit available on the MSVU intranet to help facilitate your participation in the program. You can check it out on the Intranet (log-in required).

Have you seen our new fall 2022 video?

In case you missed it, we shared a brief video to mark the start of the new academic year, and if you are wondering what all the HOOPla is about…..you’ll definitely want to check it out.

No matter what this semester brings, you’ve got this – and we’ve got you. MSVU is truly a wonderful, close-knit community committed to the success of each of its members.
Students, not only do we have amazing faculty at MSVU who are deeply committed to your success, but we also have a long list of services available to you – get to know these services, and be sure to use them. Know that my door is always open too.

As I said in the above-mentioned video, let’s do this Mystics! Because it’s going to be a great year – and you are all going to play a large part in making that the case.

Sincerely,

Joël
