Dr. Michelle Eskritt
Dr. Michelle Eskritt was named Interim Dean of Arts and Science at MSVU in August 2026. In that role, Dr. Eskritt provides important academic and administrative leadership to the faculty’s departments, programs, faculty, and staff.
Dr. Eskritt has been a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at MSVU since 1999. An innovative educator and pedagogical leader, she was recognized with the President and Vice-Presidents’ Advanced Career Teaching Award in 2023. She is highly regarded by her students and colleagues alike for her thoughtful curriculum design and pioneering use of blended learning.
Dr. Eskritt is also an accomplished researcher in cognitive development across the lifespan, focusing on nonverbal communication and cultural artifacts as cognitive tools. A first-generation university student, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Windsor and a Master of Arts and PhD in Psychology from Queen’s University.
Dr. Eskritt has made significant service and governance contributions at MSVU. She has served as Chair of the Department of Psychology, as Chair of the University Research Ethics Board, and as a member of Senate and several Senate committees, including the Committee on Academic Policy & Planning and the Committee on Research and Publications, among many other roles. Her service to the university was recognized in 2017 with the Senate Award for Service in University Governance.
