Understanding university transfer credits

There are three steps to getting started as a transfer student:

  1. Setting up your Transfer Credit Assessment
  2. Accepting and receiving your Transfer Equivalency Report, and
  3. Reaching out to Academic Advising and Registration

Your transfer credit assessment begins when you apply to the Mount. Your results will be in your acceptance package, unless additional information is needed to complete your assessment. Review the Transfer Credit Databank to see potential transfer credits available.

To ensure the quickest turnaround times possible, we recommend:

Please Note: Transfer credits are only awarded for coursework completed at an accredited public university or college.

The Transfer Equivalency Report is included as part your transfer credit assessment. This report provides a list of the courses transferred your degree program at the Mount.

Note: Students are required to complete at least 50 percent of the total number of credits at the Mount. This includes major, minor, specialization and concentration requirements. The other 50 percent of the total credits can be transferred to the Mount, as long as the credits fit into the degree program course requirements.

Review the academic calendar for more information at 2.2.2 Transfer Credits and 2.2.1 Applying External Credits.

If you transfer 50 percent of your credits, you will not be permitted to do external courses on Letter of Permission at other universities or colleges.

Once you receive your Transfer Equivalency Report, you should contact one of our Academic Advisors. They can you help select your classes, and ensure you are meeting all program requirements.

After paying your confirmation deposit, you will be able to register for courses online through MyMount.
