Mount Saint Vincent University’s Business & Tourism Department will host its annual Social Enterprise for a Day (SE4D) event on Thursday and Friday, March 14th and 15th.  The event shows students how integrating social responsibility into a business model can positively impact the world. Social enterprises are organizations that aim to improve society through commercial strategies.

On day one of the event, students from the Mount and Nova Scotia Community College will learn about social enterprise from local expert Louis Brill, Executive Director of Prescott, and on day two, students will take to the streets of Halifax to sell their own social enterprise idea.

Media are welcome to attend this event.

Each year, all proceeds raised through student social enterprise are donated to a local charity. This year, all proceeds will be donated to Prescott. Prescott is a non-profit organization in the North End of Halifax that enhances the independence of adults with an intellectual challenge through the development of skills and participation in social enterprise, personal development and employment.

“Students and faculty are excited to hear from Louis Brill of Prescott on how they run their successful social enterprise, and how they benefit society. Students will also benefit from the hands-on experience of creating and selling their own social enterprise business idea,” said Dr. Sandi Findlay-Thompson, Associate Professor, Business and Tourism.
