Dear MSVU community,
I am delighted to announce that Dr. Keltie Jones will be the new Associate Vice-President of Student Experience at Mount Saint Vincent University, effective May 2, 2022.
Keltie brings to MSVU many years of student experience leadership. She currently serves as Dean of Algonquin College’s Pembroke campus in Pembroke, Ontario; in that capacity, she provides overall academic and operational leadership, including leading campus strategic planning and enrolment management. Prior to assuming her role at Algonquin, she was Assistant Dean of Students and Academic Administration for Dalhousie’s Faculty of Agriculture and Associate Vice President Academic for Students at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College (Truro).
Keltie brings to MSVU a strong commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and EDIA. As college-wide lead for Algonquin’s most recent strategic planning process, she incorporated Indigenous ways of knowing by utilizing an Etuaptmumk (Two-Eyed Seeing) approach. During her time with Dalhousie’s Faculty of Agriculture, she led development of an Indigenous Student Support Program and Indigenous Student Access Pathway. In 2019, Keltie was the recipient of an Eagle Feather from Millbrook Community in recognition of her support for Indigenization. She instituted an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity Advisory Committee at Algonquin College’s Pembroke campus, served as a member of Dalhousie University’s Employment Equity Council, and led equity planning for Dalhousie’s Faculty of Agriculture.
Most of Keltie’s professional life has been dedicated to seeing students succeed. In recognition of her high level of commitment to student service, she was named the recipient of Dalhousie University’s Rosemary Gill Award in 2015. She has extensive experience in leading all facets of the Student Experience portfolio including residence life, counselling and health services, international student support, athletics and more. While at Dalhousie, she served on the President’s Advisory Committee on Sexualized Violence.
Keltie holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Athabasca University, a Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Davis, and a Bachelor of Arts (with Departmental Honors and Distinction) from Stanford University. She has previously worked as a lawyer in California.
In addition to numerous other professional recognitions and academic awards received during her studies, Keltie was the recipient of a Dalhousie University DPMG Award for Outstanding Achievement (2019) and Dalhousie Faculty of Agriculture Honorary Barley Ring (2016).
