The North American Indigenous Games logo, there are various pictures showing people performing various sports, with the word "Pjila'si" below the imagesThe Mount Saint Vincent University campus is buzzing this week with the arrival of 336 athletes competing in the 10th annual North American Indigenous Games. The games are being hosted across Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Dartmouth, Millbrook First Nation and Sipekne’katik from July 15 to 23, 2023.

While in Halifax, more than 330 volleyball athletes are staying in Residence at MSVU. Their games are being held at the nearby Canada Games Centre (Thomas Raddall Drive). These athletes are representing First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities from across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Newfoundland, Ontario, Quebec, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and New York state.

In total, the games include more than 5,000 athletes, coaches and staff from 756+ Indigenous Nations. The games are an opportunity to celebrate, share and connect through sport and culture.

Members of the MSVU and broader communities are encouraged to cheer on the many athletes competing at the games this week and join in the cultural events planned, including visiting the Cultural Village on the Halifax Commons.
