Weather Update #4

Mount Saint Vincent University remains closed today, Sunday, September 8. The campus is without power and phone landlines are not functioning. Nova Scotia Power is projecting that power will be restored tonight at 11 p.m. We ask that members of the MSVU community not come to campus, as we are still clearing debris, etc.
Due to the issue with phone landlines on campus, we ask that residence students on campus call 911 in the case of an emergency. Residence students can also attend the comfort centre at the Canada Games Centre located at 26 Thomas Raddall Drive in Halifax to charge devices.
We will continue to monitor conditions to plan for Monday. Updates will be provided via Mount Alert, msvu.ca, and our Facebook and Twitter sites.

Due to the impact of Hurricane Dorian, including wide spread power outages, MSVU will remain closed tomorrow, Sunday, September 8. Updates will be made available via Mount Alert, msvu.ca, and our Facebook and Twitter sites.
Weather Update #2

We continue to monitor Hurricane Dorian to ensure we are as prepared as possible for whatever the weather may bring. The safety of students, faculty, and staff remains our primary concern.
Due to expected severe weather conditions, MSVU will be closed on Saturday, September 7 beginning at 6 a.m. We will continue to monitor weather conditions to plan for Sunday. Updates will be provided via Mount Alert, the MSVU website and Facebook and Twitter sites.
We want to remind you of some steps you should take before you leave MSVU today:
• Employees should ensure windows and doors are closed.
• Employees should shut down your computer.
• Lab instructors and researchers should prepare their time-sensitive lab research in the event of a power outage.
• If you haven’t already, sign up for Mount Alert, as it will be used to notify students, faculty and staff if the University is closed because of weather-related issues. By default, alert messages will be sent to all students, faculty and staff via @msvu.ca email addresses.

As you are likely aware, Environment Canada has issued a Tropical Cyclone Information Statement for Halifax and other parts of Nova Scotia. High winds and rain are expected beginning this Saturday, September 7, and continuing into Sunday. The safety of students, faculty, and staff is our primary concern. We want to make you aware of some steps you should be taking in advance of this severe weather to ensure you’re prepared both at work and at home:
• Employees should ensure windows and doors are closed, and their computers are turned off before leaving for the weekend.
We are monitoring the situation closely, ensuring plans are in place for our students living in residence, and for our campus facilities, and will keep you informed on any developments. In the event of a campus closure, we will post information on the Weather Centre page on the Mount’s website msvu.ca, Facebook (facebook.com/MountSaintVincentUniversity) and twitter (@MSVU_Halifax).
