MSVU student Charles (Charlie) Anderson has been named one of the best business students in Atlantic Canada. Charlie is one of eight newly announced recipients of the 2026 Frank H. Sobey Awards for Excellence in Business Studies.
The award recognizes outstanding academic achievement, entrepreneurial leadership, and a deep commitment to giving back to communities. Each recipient will receive $45,000 and be paired with an experienced mentor through the award’s mentorship program.
“Selected from 34 outstanding candidates nominated by the deans of their respective business schools, the final eight were chosen through a rigorous selection process. The remarkable caliber of all the applicants made the final decisions both challenging and inspiring,” said the Board of Trustees of the Frank H. Sobey Awards for Excellence in Business Studies in an announcement.
Meet Charlie
Charlie Anderson of Balls Creek, Cape Breton, NS, is in the 3rd year of his Business Administration degree at MSVU, with a major in Marketing – and a perfect GPA. He’s also the owner of Charlie Anderson Studio, established to help Atlantic Canadian businesses market themselves through high quality, affordable digital media production. As one of his nominators stated, “Through videography, photography, graphic design, and content creation, Charlie has built a purpose-driven business that provides significant tangible value to companies across his home region of Cape Breton and beyond.”
With the support of the Frank H. Sobey Award, Charlie will continue his journey in entrepreneurship by growing his business, while at the same time finishing his degree at MSVU. And as Charlie’s business grows, he hopes the businesses he supports will be able to do the same. His ultimate goal is to expand Charlie Anderson Studio into a full creative agency that provides opportunity for young creators, small businesses, and regional economic growth.
