The Mount is serious about sustainability

Since Mount Saint Vincent University implemented a Facility Improvement Plan in 2009, the University has been making strides in environmental sustainability. In fact, our plan identified multiple sustainability, energy efficiency and deferred maintenance goals and paid for itself in less than six years as opposed to its targeted nine. This Earth Day, we’re pleased to share some of our green accomplishments, by the numbers:

Of course, there’s always more to be done…

And we’re always looking at new ways to further our sustainability efforts. For example, one area in which we’re aiming to improve is waste separation. Thanks to a student-led team supported by a grant from Chartwells, we’ve been working to improve waste streaming towards more successful recycling and organic waste disposal programs. Kudos to all involved in that project.

We couldn’t be successful i
n these efforts without the support of the entire Mount community. Your ideas are always welcome!
