Amanda Pearcey, Amanda Volcko and Chase Tynes named athletes of the year

On Thursday, April 4, the MSVU athletics community gathered to celebrate an outstanding year and the many hardworking and talented athletes, coaches, staff and supporters who were part of it.

MSVU student-athletes excel in many facets of their lives – including in academics, athletics and community involvement. And not only do the annual “Best of the Blue Mystic Awards” celebrate athlete accomplishments, but they also recognize commitment and development.

The numbers tell the story:

In September 2023, the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) announced their 2022-2023 national scholars and we had 38 at MSVU. That’s about 40% of our student-athletes who achieved high academic standing while also competing in their sport at a high level.

In 2023/24:

  • 16 MSVU student-athletes received Atlantic Collegiate Athletics Association (ACAA) All-Conference Awards;
  • Two MSVU student-athletes received ACAA Major Awards;
  • Seven MSVU student-athletes were named CCAA Academic All-Canadians; and
  • We celebrated an ACAA championship win in men’s basketball.

Congratulations to all of MSVU’s 2023-2024 athletics award winners!

Thank you to our seniors!

This is the last year for 15 MSVU student-athletes who have committed a combined total of 50 seasons to the Mystics program. We wish them all the very best in their next adventures. Hear what they have to say in the 2023-24 Mystics seniors video.
