A Garden that Welcomes the Community

We are a sustainably managed community garden on the Mount campus open to the students, faculty and staff of Mount Saint Vincent University, as well as all interested individuals and organizations of the surrounding community. Our garden includes plots for individuals and organizations, and communal educational plots. If you are interested in sustainability, researching gardens, growing your own food, meeting members of your community, or if you just want to get your hands in the dirt, we want you to get involved!

The Mount Community Garden receives support from Mount Saint Vincent University, and has received over $12,000 in funding from Evergreen, a national charity that makes cities more livable. Evergreen funds have supported workshops and events, allowed us to purchase tools and plants, and assisted with the maintenance of the garden space. The funds have also helped us to build a shed and expand the garden to more than double its original size. Our raised garden beds and planters are fenced in, and we have an outdoor classroom that includes a seating area and a native plant garden specifically for educational purposes.

There are ongoing opportunities for volunteers at the garden including helping with our newsletter, workshops, construction projects and composting, and weeding and watering.
