We are so excited you are interested to join our MSVU family, a community of equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility. We understand that the process of becoming an MSVU student and preparing for life in a new country can be overwhelming, but we are here to help you every step of the way.

First, you need to know how to become an MSVU student, and then, before departing from home, it’s important to well prepare for your academic journey at MSVU and new life in Halifax, Canada. Our goal is to help you smoothly transition to the new environment, so we offer a New International Student Orientation (NISO). This orientation is designed to provide you with important information about the campus services, the city, and Canadian culture, as well as opportunities to meet other international students and make new friends.

Information for new international students

On January 22, the Government of Canada announced that all study permit applications (for undergraduate programs at all Canadian post-secondary institutions) will now need to be accompanied by an attestation letter from the Canadian province where you plan to study.

The attestation letter is new and we do not yet have details of how these letters will be provided. As soon as we know more, we will let you know. Please do not submit your study permit application until we reach out to you with details about the attestation letter.

Applications are still being accepted from international students for fall 2024 admission to MSVU. If you are an international student and you have applied for an undergraduate program and are awaiting a decision, there is nothing more you need to do at this time. We will be back in touch about your application as soon as we can. Please note that there may be a delay in our response to your application.
