Our Counselling Services team provides FREE personal and academic counselling to any registered Mount student in a relaxed, inclusive, and confidential environment. We are committed to supporting students of all diverse identities.

Is there someone who can do assessments and write hormone and surgical readiness letters?

Yes, Dr. Heather Patterson is a psychologist who specializes in gender and sexuality. She strives to provide a warm, open, collaborative, and empathetic therapeutic space with the goal of helping her clients to explore struggles and expand ways of coping. She has a particular interest in the areas of positive psychology, attachment, gender, and human sexuality, especially as it relates to one's interpersonal relationships and satisfaction in these relationships.

She has worked extensively with the post-secondary student population, and is comfortable working with a variety of psychological concerns including identity development, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, grief, assertiveness/social skills, self-esteem issues, and behaviour change related to substance and/or alcohol abuse.

Dr. Patterson is a 2SLGBTQIA+ friendly practitioner who follows the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) standards of care. Appointments can be booked by calling (902) 457-6567 or by emailing msvu.ca
