Defend yourself against fraud by changing your password regularly.  Make your password difficult for malicious users to guess.

Your password should be:

  • A minimum of eight characters long. A longer password is usually more secure.
  • A combination of uppercase, lowercase and numbers. Mount passwords must contain at least one number, 1 upper case and 1 lower case letter. Remember that passwords ARE case sensitive, so Apgle117 is different from ApGle117.
Using more than the minimum usually makes the password better, special characters help too. As in the example above, Apgle117 is a reasonable password, Iw1shf0r1M1ll! (I wish for 1 Million!) is an example of a password that is fairly easy to remember, meets all requirements and is more secure.
  • Keep safe. Choose something that you can remember and do not have to write it down.
  • Difficult to guess.   Simple dictionary words or any part of your username should not be used to make your password.
  • Not used on different accounts/systems. If one account is compromised, especially one that has the same username as on other system, that other account is at risk.
  • Not shared. Do not share your password.
  • If you would like to learn more: https://howsecureismypassword.net/ allows you to try different passwords to see what different combinations and length does to the strength of your password.
