Angela Seitz
Master of Education in Curriculum Studies: Teaching English as a Second Language

Angela Seitz is a Master of Education Student in the curriculum Studies program with a concentration in Teaching English as a Second Language program. When she completes this degree, she plans to continue to teaching English language learners, both in Canada and abroad.

Here’s what Angela has to say about the MEd program and her professional and academic journey:

“I have always been drawn to the rich diversity of human culture. I began my post-secondary academic career studying anthropology, with a particular focus on cultural anthropology and gender studies. While completing my undergraduate degree, I began working with local English language learners and eventually began to work as a language instructor for a rural outreach program. I realised that teaching others while learning about a variety of cultures and languages was my calling.

“I always intended to pursue a Master’s degree. Once I discovered Mount Saint Vincent’s MEd TESL program, I was determined to take this next step in my academic career.

Through this program, I have the opportunity to work with amazing, knowledgeable professors and gain an in-depth understanding of the field. The Master of TESL is unique in that students take courses at both MSVU and Saint Mary’s University, giving them a chance to explore and learn from a wide range of professionals. In 2014-2015, I will be attending Saint Mary’s University to complete the remainder of my courses.

In the future, I see myself teaching international students in a university English preparation program, as well as working with local immigrant services organizations. I also intend to teach internationally if given the opportunity, hopefully working with women and children in economically-developing nations.”
