Hire a Mount Co-op Student

We make it easy to hire a co-op student by providing a personalized approach at every step in the hiring process.

Do you have projects that require additional support to complete? Do you have a new position to test? Are you interested in mentoring a student in their field of study? Hire a business administration or public relations co-op student for the Fall 2018 term (September to December).

About our students:

Co-op students will bring unique skills, a fresh perspective and an eagerness to learn and grow.
The majority of public relations and business administration students seeking a fall 2018 work term are senior students who have previously completed two work terms. These students are currently in their fourth year and are seeking a co-op position for their third work term.

When considering hiring a student, keep the following in mind:

  • Students are seeking a learning experience from you, our educational partners, and are bright and eager to learn. This partnership provides you with the opportunity to coach and mentor students to grow their experience and develop their confidence.
  • Students have on-the-job experience and may have additional experience gained through volunteer opportunities, extra-curricular activities/hobbies and academic work.
  • The Mount co-op program is committed to supporting employers to build a diverse workforce reflective of Canadian society, including women, Aboriginal students, students with disabilities and students from various visible minority groups.

NEW change to interview and job offer process

In response to employer and student feedback, we will be moving to a 3-day interview period prior to starting job offers. As an employer this means more flexibility to interview students and the ability for the Co-op Office to accommodate more employers wanting to conduct interviews before job offers start. Students will also benefit from having more preparation time. All co-op job offers will be held until 3:00 pm on Friday, June 8. Employers will hear from the  Co-op Office on Monday, June 11 about the outcome of the job offer.

All interviews arranged Wednesday, June 6 to Friday, June 8 must be held on-campus, or via phone or Skype. Starting Monday, June 11, interviews may be held off campus. Also, starting June 11 job offers will be extended to students as soon as the Co-op Office receives them. Students will have one business day to make a decision on offers.

How does co-op benefit students?

The Mount’s Co-op program has provided me with more than
just a paid work term; it has opened the door to a realm of
possibilities. Due to the co-op program, I possess a competitive
advantage that others do not, a full year of work experience."
