Arts and Science Internship Program

Along with our co-op students, you now have the opportunity to hire a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science intern.

Senior students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science program are eligible to complete a 13-17 week paid internship in the Summer 2017 semester. The goal of the internship program is to provide students with paid, full-time work experience to determine their career goals and further develop their skills.

What skills will an Arts and Science Intern bring to your organization?

•    Critical and analytical in approach to problem-solving
•    Research and information management skills
•    Highly adaptable

Important Recruitment Dates

  • Deadline for first round of job postings deadline: Wednesday, January 9, 2019
  • First round of jobs to be posted for students: Monday, January 14, 2019
  • Deadline to apply for SKILL funding: TBD
  • First round of jobs posted will close on: Monday, January 28, 2019
  • Ongoing postings begin: Tuesday, January 29, 2019
  • Interviews and offers begin: Friday, February 8, 2019

Please login to the Mount co-op portal, Career Connects. Career Connects allows you to submit a job posting, review your application package when the position closes, submit an interview shortlist and rank students following interviews.

Funding Program for Employers in Nova Scotia:

Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education offers the Student Summer Skills Incentive (SKILL) and partners with not-for-profit organizations to create career-related summer jobs for post-secondary students. The funding application can be found online. The minimum salary is $12 per hour and organizations will be reimbursed $8.50 per hour up to 35 hours worked per week.  Please visit their website for more information. (Note: Both co-op and internship students are eligible for this funding program.) 

The SKILL application will be available in early December. The deadline to apply for this funding program is typically the end of January, we will post the date as soon as it is received. Please visit the SKILL website for more information. 

The process to apply for funding has changed to an online platform called LaMPSS. Please carefully review the new information provided by the Department of Labour and Advanced Education before applying to ensure your application is successfully received and processed.
