What is Document Delivery and Document Delivery Distance Services?

Document Delivery

Document Delivery is responsible for obtaining materials unavailable at the Mount either in print or online. Mount students, staff and faculty can borrow physical material and obtain copies of articles or chapters from works that are not held by the Mount Library. We will do our best to fill all requests.

Document Delivery Distance Services

Document Delivery is also responsible for delivering print materials in the Mount Library collection to distances students, staff and faculty.

Who can use Document Delivery Distance Services?

Distance Services are available to anyone registered in or teaching a distance class.

Members of the Mount Community, not registered in or teaching a distance class, who are unable to physically access MSVU campus can contact the Document Delivery department about solutions for accessing the Mount's print materials.

What services does Document Delivery provide?

Novanet Express 

  • Supplies materials from other Novanet libraries
  • Novanet Express requests are placed via the Novanet Catalogue.

Document Delivery

  • a.k.a. Interlibrary Loan, supplies materials other libraries across Canada and internationally
  • Document Delivery requests can be place using the
          • ‘Request Document Delivery’ button in WorldCat,
          • the ‘Check for Full Text…’ link in our databases
          • choosing Document Delivery from additional options in the Journal list,
          • by using the Document Delivery form on the Document Delivery home page.

How to I check my Library account?

For both your Novanet and Relais accounts, login using your Mount ID card barcode and password (usually the last 4 digits of your phone number).

Login to your Novanet Library Account

To renew book borrowed on Novanet, check the status of holds, and fines, login to your library account and choose the "My Library Account" tab.

Login to your Document Delivery Relais Account

To request a renewal of a book borrowed from outside of Novanet, check the status of a request or cancel a request, login to the document delivery system and choose "List Open Request" from the top menu.

Are there any fees or limits to Document Delivery Distance Services?

There is no charge for items that are available within Canada. Requester is responsible for any charges from international libraries.

How far will Document Delivery Distance Services mail print materials?

Document Delivery will supply items anywhere within Canada.

We encourage anyone living in Nova Scotia within easy access of a Novanet Library to order material  materials available within Novanet via Novanet Express.

Unfortunately due to timeliness and cost of international shipping we cannot mail print items to students, staff or faculty living outside of Canada.
