Clientele:
Chemistry and Physics materials are used by faculty and students in that department, as well as Biology, Mathematics, the BSC in Human Ecology program, and Education.

Responsibility:
Materials are selected by librarians and faculty in Chemistry and Physics. The librarians use the Reference allocation to purchase handbooks, specialized dictionaries and encyclopedias, tables of mathematical and chemical formulae which are retained in the Reference collection of the library.

Scope:
Current English language monographs are selected. The print research journal collection is small and pertains to Chemistry. We do not subscribe to any print journals with a concentration specific to Physics. Although most monograph materials are acquired in print format, computer software packages will be ordered, and will be catalogued for Novanet. Note: Our membership in CRKN provides access to extensive serial collections in Chemistry and Physics : Royal Society of Chemistry e-journals, American Chemical Society e-journals,  as well relevant titles published by Kluwer and Elsevier ScienceDirect. In addition to the CRKN suite of databases, the Library subscribes to Wiley Inter-Science e-journals.

Donations of textbooks are accepted with a preference for works published within the past 5 years or which replace an older edition of a work currently in the collection.

Exclusions:
Unpublished manuscipts and dissertations, workbooks and other consumables, lab manuals except those with reference value.

Other Local Collections:
Dalhousie Science Library. Patrick Power Library - Saint Mary's University.
