Co-operative Education

Business Administration, Public Relations and Tourism and Hospitality Management
Students complete three, four-month paid work terms in their field of study. Before graduation, students gain one year of relevant work experience. Work terms are with non-profit, corporate and government organizations.

Internships

Bachelor of Arts and Science Internship Program
This internship program integrates academic studies with one paid internship work term after a student’s third year of study. Students gain valuable work experience in the corporate, government or not-for-profit sector, while exploring their career goals. Enrollment in the program is limited and selection is based on academic background and achievement.

Practicum

Bachelor of Education Practicum Program
One of the important features of the Bachelor of Education program is the combination of the theoretical and the practical aspects of teaching and learning. During the two-year program students will have the opportunity to work with experienced professional educators in a variety of educational settings for up to 24 weeks.

Child and Youth Studies Practicum Program
While completing the Bachelor of Arts (Child and Youth Study) program, students will have the opportunity to apply knowledge they’ve acquired in the classroom into practice with over 500 hours of practical, hands-on experience in such settings as schools, hospitals, residential youth programs, community-based services, and early intervention programs.

Tourism and Hospitality Management Work Experience Program
This practica program allows students to build on previous academic or significant industry experience while maintaining greater flexibility in their academic scheduling. The work experience program integrates classroom study with two alternating work terms of 560 hours each. This work experience is completed during the summer semesters based on industry demands.

Course-based Experiential Learning

There are a number of courses offered in many academic departments that enable students to put theory to the test with hands on applied learning opportunities. Students “learn by doing” in these exciting and innovative courses. Speak to your academic advisor or faculty advisor to find out about courses that work for you.

Student Works

The Student Works employment program offers full-time students who demonstrate financial need the opportunity to apply for on-campus jobs. Part-time opportunities are available in the fall/winter term, and full-time opportunities are available for the summer. Student Works positions will be of career value to students, allowing them to gain workforce skills and life competencies that will aid in the transition to the world of work beyond graduation.
