Student Digital Media Consulting Agency (DMCA)
Who we are
Launched in September, 2017, DMCA is a student-led project at Mount Saint Vincent University. The aim is to give back to the community through provision of communications counsel (communications planning), focusing on digital media services to non-profit organizations that create a positive impact within the Halifax community.
We are driven by the Department of Communications’ belief that social responsibility underpins all public relations practice. DMCA establishes vital connections between the community and students, and provides invaluable benefits for both parties. While the non-profits benefit from excellent communications consulting services, students have an opportunity to gain hands-on experience.
Current Partner
In the 2017-18 academic year, DMCA worked with Hope Blooms, an organization located in the North End of Halifax. Started by Mount alumna Jessie Jollymore in 2008, Hope Blooms’ mission is to empower at-risk youth to be actively engaged in building environments that directly impact the social determinants of health in their communities. The organization teaches youth about growing food; producing and successfully marketing value-added products; managing social enterprises; and making a positive impact on their community.
DMCA student consultants developed a digital media plan for Hope Blooms, focusing on the strategic use of social media to expand their communication.
