Life Insurance Policies & Annuities
A gift of Life Insurance enables you to make a significant, lasting gift to MSVU with a minimal outlay of current savings or income.
When you make MSVU the owner and beneficiary of a life insurance policy, you are eligible to receive a charitable tax receipt for each premium payment. If you prefer to retain ownership of a policy, you can name MSVU as a beneficiary and your estate will receive the receipt for income tax purposes.
- Gifts of life insurance are not included in probate.
- A charitable tax receipt is issued, based on the way the insurance was gifted.
- Allows a donor to make a charitable gift larger than may have been otherwise possible from gifts of current income.
- The donor’s estate remains intact.
We recommend you discuss your gift intentions with a life insurance agent to determine which type of insurance best suits your needs.
