A gift of Life Insurance enables you to make a significant, lasting gift to the Mount with a minimal outlay of current savings or income. You needn’t wait to make your gift from accumulated assets, which usually take years to acquire.
When you make the Mount the owner and beneficiary of a life insurance policy, you are eligible to receive a charitable tax receipt for each premium payment.
Alternatively, if you prefer to retain ownership of a policy, you can name MSVU as a beneficiary and your estate will receive the receipt for income tax purposes.
- Gifts of life insurance are not included in probate.
- A charitable tax receipt is issued, based on the way the insurance was gifted.
- Allows a donor to make a charitable gift larger than may have been otherwise possible from gifts of current income.
- The donor’s estate remains intact.
We recommend you discuss your gift intentions with a life insurance agent to determine which type of insurance best suits your needs. When you are ready to proceed, we would be happy to assist you in completing your gift.
