MA and MSc degrees require a thesis.
The thesis should be a contribution to knowledge in the candidate’s specialized area and must show familiarity with methods of research and critical inquiry. The completed work must be approved by the thesis supervisory committee. Formal approval is granted by the Dean of Graduate Studies, once the completed thesis approval forms are received. The thesis must be prepared according to the regulations required by the academic department. These are available from departments and on departmental websites. Policies and procedures governing the preparation, presentation and approval of a thesis are available on the Graduate Studies.
Registration for Thesis
Students in programs requiring a thesis must register in the thesis course no later than one term after the completion of their coursework and must maintain registration in the thesis by paying the thesis continuation fee on a term by term basis until the term in which the thesis receives final approval. See Financial Policies for further details.
