When the one and only building on the MSVU campus burned down in 1951, the people of Halifax showed tremendous support in providing locations for students to have their classroom lectures. To show their appreciation, the Sisters of Charity established Caritas Day as a day of community service. The Business and Tourism students volunteer their time on this day giving back to the community. The Mount students and faculty have an opportunity to connect with the Sisters of Charity, and to work together outside the classroom setting in a charitable event that is both beneficial personally and academically.
“I really enjoyed participating in the Caritas Day – it was a great learning experience and I feel like it is the least I can do to give back to the community that was so generous to the Mount in its time of need.” – Mackenzie Parker Winter 2020
