CHYS 4499 HONOURS THESIS
Regulations for Honours Thesis in Child & Youth Study
Outline for proposed thesis to be submitted (1000-2000 words) by this date. This should include the proposed topic, major research questions to be addressed or examined, research methodology, data analysis and a preliminary bibliography.
Formal thesis proposal (4000-5000 words) to be submitted on or before this date. The proposal must be approved by the Thesis Committee for the student to proceed with the thesis.
Two copies of the completed thesis (8000-10000 words) must be submitted by this date.
FIRST TUESDAY AFTER COMPLETION OF PRACTICUM
Oral presentation of thesis before faculty and all other Honours students. All Honours students must attend all presentations.
All final corrections/amendments completed and two copies of the final thesis must be submitted by this date. * This date may change in some years if classes end very early or late.
The specific requirements pertaining to each of these stages will be established by the faculty thesis advisor. These specific requirements (e.g., word guidelines, specific sections, format) will take into account the nature of the topic and the type of thesis or research proposed. Advisors are responsible for ensuring students receive clear guidelines. Students are responsible for ensuring that they meet all specific guidelines and deadlines.
In accordance with the regulations of the Committee for Academic Affairs, students are requested to note the following: “Correct use of language is one of the criteria included in the evaluation of all written assignments.”
