Sara Kirk holds a Canada Research Chair in Health Services Research at the School of Health and Human Performance, Dalhousie University and cross-appointments with Community Health and Epidemiology and the IWK Health Centre in Halifax. She is also a Research Associate with the Atlantic Health Promotion Research Centre and a Senior Scientist with the Beatrice Hunter Cancer Research Institute. Originally from the UK, she moved to Canada in December 2006 where she heads a research group called Applied Research Collaborations for Health (ARCH). Her research program uses a social-ecological approach to understand lifestyle factors influencing health status and health services utilization, particularly in relation to excessive weight gain (obesity). She is a co-investigator on the Community University Research Alliance (CURA), Activating Change Together for Community Food Security (ACT for CFS) (PI: Dr. Patty Williams, Mount Saint Vincent University and Christine Johnson, St FX).
