The safety of all members of the MSVU community is of utmost importance. As we gradually adjust our on-campus operations, we want to be sure you have the information you need to protect yourself and those around you.

The Library

Due to the evolving pandemic situation in Halifax, the MSVU Library & Archives will move to mainly virtual operations (i.e. no in-person bookings) effective Wednesday morning, April 28, 2021. Curbside pick-up services will continue, but will move to the Assisi Desk entrance; book returns will be available at Assisi as well as via the blue return bin outside the main McCain Centre entrance. Find more information about online/remote Library & Archive services. An update will be provided as soon as the Library is able to once again welcome students, faculty and staff on-campus by appointment.

Mount Fitness Centre

As of April 22, 2021, the MSVU gym and fitness centre are temporarily closed. Online programming will continue – learn more via the Fitness Centre’s social media (Facebook / Instagram).

Aboriginal Student Centre

As of April 22, 2021, the Aboriginal Student Centre will temporarily shift to online services only. Please contact Patrick.Smalllegs-Nagge@msvu.ca for more information.

The Mount Bookstore

As of April 22, 2021, in-person access to The Mount Bookstore has been temporarily suspended. The store will continue to be available online (with curbside pick-up and shipping options available).

Bookstore Curbside Pick-up

You can place online orders and pick them up via curbside pick-up. Your order will be available to pick-up 24 hours after it has been placed (Monday – Friday & excluding holidays, 10:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m.). An appointment must be made online for a 10-minute time slot to pickup your order.

Before arriving on campus, please complete the online health assessment on the day of your appointment. Once on campus, go to the Security entrance of the Assisi Residence Building  [map] to pick-up your book order. Enter through the security door and your order will be on a table in the lobby with your name and order # on the bag. You will then exit through the same doorway. Please remember masks must be worn in common indoor spaces on campus at all times.

At this time, the Bookstore is not able to process cash transactions, provide fittings for graduation rings, or rent gowns/hoods. Purchases can be made with debit, credit card or Bookstore gift cards.

Online health assessment form

All those coming to campus must complete the health assessment form (before you come) on the day of your pre-arranged visit. It only needs to be completed if you will be on campus that day. A reminder that you should not come to campus if you have any symptoms of COVID-19.

General safety reminders

Masks are now required in common indoor spaces on campus. Those coming on campus also need to ensure physical distancing between themselves and others, practice coughing and sneezing etiquette, and ensure frequent handwashing. We strongly recommend washing your hands when you arrive on campus. Though hand washing with soap and water is best, additional hand sanitizer stations have been installed throughout campus.

Faculty and staff interim office access

Effective Tuesday, September 8, 2020, occasional essential office access for faculty and staff can be requested by completing the online request form available here. Faculty and staff should not attend campus until you’ve received confirmation that your request has been approved. Access can be requested for between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. A key fob/access card will be required.

Please note that the main entrance (Atrium level) of the McCain Centre is to be used by only those with confirmed library bookings. Faculty and staff should access their offices using the card access entrance on the third floor (side) of McCain.
