What can I bring to residence (i.e. bike, fridge, pets)?

What is an RA? What do they do?
Resident Assistants (RAs) are student representatives of
the housing office who live and work in residence buildings. Assisi, the
Birches and Westwood each have a Residence Life Team responsible for housing programming and addressing
the needs of Mount students. RAs also ensure housing rules and regulations are
adhered to by residents; they look out for the well-being of all on-campus
Will my student have a mailing address?
Yes, each residence student is assigned a mailbox at the
start of the year. Please use the following format when
sending correspondence to your student:

I've been assigned a residence but want to
switch - can I switch residences?
You must submit a written request to the Residence Life Manager for all room or residence changes.
I would like to know my future room mate before we move in together - can I get in contact with them?
Email msvu.ca. We will verify that your room mates have
authorized us to release their information and email you with their details.
When do residences close during the year?
close on December 17th, 2016
and remain closed until January 2nd, 2017 for the Holiday Closure. Residences
close for the summer on April 22nd, 2017, with the exception of Birch 5, which
houses students taking summer courses.
Can I have overnight guests in my room?
Beginning on September 12th, 2016, students are welcome to invite
an overnight guest to the Mount. During Orientation Week, no overnight guests
will be permitted. Assisi guests must carry an ID and a guest pass while on
campus. Guests in all over areas must carry valid ID. All guests are expected
to follow the guidelines in the Residence Life Handbook and must be accompanied by their
hosting resident at all times. Any damage charges and/or
fines incurred as a result of a guest’s behaviour will be the
responsibility of the host resident. Any violation of residence rules
could result in a loss of guest privileges.
Are meal plans mandatory? Who is the
provider? Do they have vegan/vegetarian alternatives?
Yes, meal plans are mandatory. Chartwells provides
on-campus dining to the community. There are a number of options for
students, including vegan and vegetarian alternatives. Chartwells can also
accommodate special dietary needs by meeting with the Food Services Director.

Is long-term parking available at the Mount?
Yes, but you will be required to purchase a parking permit from the Assisi security desk.
Is there someone myself or my student can
contact if they have questions about student loans?
Yes, The Mount has a financial aid department dedicated
to helping our students understand their student loans, lines of credits,
bursaries, scholarships and any other aspect of their finances at The Mount.
What resources are available on campus for
The MSVU Office of Student Experience (OSE) is dedicated
to supporting all Mount students throughout their time here. They offer a range
of free services for students including, counselling, career planning,
disability services and financial aid.
