What should I bring to residence?

The Mount Student's Ultimate Packing List

TRADITIONAL RESIDENCE
• Linen for a single bed, including a comforter and pillow 
• Electronics: Computer, small television, phone (with calling card), personal music devices/headphones
• Alarm clock, bedside lamp, flashlight and batteries
• Supplies for class (binders, calculator, pen(cil)s, paper and everyday items)
• Clothes/Closet: Everyday and formal wear, hangers, outerwear (raincoat and umbrella), closet organizer
• Laundry: Carrying basket, detergent, fabric softener (sheets), quarters, sewing kit
• Plastic caddy and flip flops for the shower, toiletry items (shampoo, toothpaste, towels)
• Hair dryer, straightener and other personal care items 
• Sticky tack, 3M poster tabs, pins or thumbtacks (no nails)
• Bike (must be kept on campus bike racks) and other sports gear or equipment (small)

 

LIVING IN A WESTWOOD APARTMENT? ADD THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
• Garbage and recycling bags, a broom and dustpan, cleaning supplies
• Paper towel, facial and toilet tissue
• Food, pots and pans, kitchenware (dish towels, utensils, bowls, cups, plates)
• Small appliances such as a sandwich maker or coffeemaker (no deep fat fryers permitted)
• Mattress cover (optional, as mattresses are treated with a protective coating)
 

WHAT SHOULD I LEAVE AT HOME?
Regardless of residence type, the following items are not permitted:
• Candles
• Halogen lamps
• Electrical kitchen appliances (including mini-fridges in Assisi)
• Phone splitters
• Extension cords
• Real Christmas trees
• Weapons/firearms.
• Residences come furnished and with window coverings, so please leave curtains, hammer and nails, soft furniture, mattresses and rugs or carpets at home.
• Masking tape
• Pets (although fish in bowls are permitted)
• Subwoofers and speakers larger than six inches
• Amplified musical instruments.
