What can I bring to residence (i.e. bike, fridge, pets)?
For a complete list of what to bring and what to leave at home, please consult our ultimate packing list.

Can I bring my car to the Mount?
Yes, but you will be required to purchase a parking permit from the Assisi security desk.

What sort of storage is available for my suitcases and/or trunks?
Empty trunks and suitcases may be stored in either the Assisi or Birches storage rooms during the school year at no cost.

What is an RA? What do they do?
Resident Assistants (RAs) are student representatives of the housing office who live and work in  residence buildings. Assisi, the Birches and Westwood each have a residence team responsible for housing programming and addressing the needs of Mount students. RAs also ensure housing rules and regulations are adhered to by residents; they look out for the well-being of all on-campus residents. .

Do I get my initial deposit back at the end of the year?
Residence deposits for Assisi, Birches and Westwood (3rd floor only) rooms go towards the payment of your room. Westwood apartment deposits are held as a damage deposit, and either part or all of your deposit will be returned pending the condition of the apartment and your room at checkout.

When do residences close during the year?
Residences close for the summer on April 21, 2012, with the exception of Birch 5, which houses students taking summer courses. Summer accommodations are available in limited quantities.

Are meal plans mandatory? Who is the provider? Do they have vegan/vegetarian alternatives?
Yes, meal plans are mandatory. The Mount has recently changed food service providers and will be working with Chartwells to provide on-campus dining to the community. Chartwells will have a number of options for students, including vegan and vegetarian alternatives. More information can be found on the chartwells website.

I've been assigned a residence but want to switch - can I switch residences?
You must submit a written request to the housing coordinator for all room or residence changes.

I would like to know my future roommate before we move in together - can I get in contact with them?
Contact the housing office and we will contact your roommate to ensure it is okay to release their information to you.

Can I have overnight guests in my room?
Beginning on September 11, students are welcome to invite an overnight guest to the Mount. During Orientation (or 'Frosh') Week, no overnight guests will be permitted. Guests must carry an ID or a guest pass, and are expected to follow residence rules and must be accompanied by their hosting resident at all times. Any damage or fines caused by a guest will be the responsibility of the host resident. Any violation of residence rules could result in a loss of guest privileges. See your residence handbook for more information.
