Spring 2012 Valedictorians

The Valedictorian Prize is given to graduates who have made significant contributions to extra-curricular activities at the Mount and/or community-at-large, as well as maintained a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.7 in the most recent five units of coursework.

Michelle Camara, BA

May 17, 2012 (Morning Ceremony)

Michelle, the daughter of a Mount alumna, came to the Mount from Bermuda on a quest for small classes and a warm, communal atmosphere. Michelle contributed significantly to student life at the Mount, as an avid volunteer with the Students’ Union and as the most recent Programming Manager for the Fountain Play Centre, a unique childcare service on campus.

Vanessa MacLellan B&W

 

Vanessa MacLellan, BScAHN (Honours)

May 17, 2012 (Afternoon Ceremony)

Vanessa MacLellan, a native of Sydney, NS, leaves behind five years, three internships, and hundreds of volunteer hours as she takes her next step as a Registered Dietitian. While at the Mount, Vanessa’s kind approach and innate leadership abilities led her to accumulate an impressive co-curricular record and notable awards, including the 2010 Young Woman of Distinction Award, part of the Progress Club Women of Excellence Awards.

Andrea Colley B&W

 

Andrea Colley, BA, BEd

May 18, 2012 (Morning Ceremony)

Andrea Colley credits her fearless outlook on life to her large family, her three children and her favourite poem: MaryAnn Williamson’s Our Greatest Fear. Andrea began her studies almost a decade ago, enrolled as an undergraduate student. Her ability to juggle family life, community involvement and academics has been an inspiration to those who know her, and she does it with an ear-to-ear smile.
