Assistive Technology Software at the Mount 

Kurzweil 3000A program that students can use to scan textbooks and other printed material, which the computer then reads aloud; the student can follow the text as it is being read aloud.

Jaws ProA program that reads text aloud for students who are blind.

Dragon Naturally Speaking A voice-to-text program that allows students to dictate into the computer without typing.

TextHELP Read and Write A program that students can use for writing. It also is a screen reader (it can read aloud almost anything that the user points the mouse to).

InspirationA mapping program used by students to help strengthen their critical thinking, comprehension and writing abilities.

Zoomtext Magnifier/Screen Reader Enlarges print on the computer screen for students with low vision and then reads the text aloud.

All software is installed on two computer workstations (one is height adjustable) in Disability Services as well as on laptops. Kurzweil is also installed in the Learning Commons (in the library) and Zoomtext is also in the Curriculum Resource Centre.
