7 ways to use your Writing Centre:

Recommend a one-hour appointment for a student in need: students email writing@msvu.ca to book.

Recommend repeating weekly appointments all term for a student in need. Students can book these.

Know that we will be a referral service for students with particular needs (ESL/EAL, specific learning needs, study strategies). Direct students with writing issues here, and we will connect them with the appropriate service. The Writing Centre works with the International Education Centre, Counselling Services, Learning Strategist, Career Planning Services, Accessibility Services, Library help, and more.

Arrange class visits on particular writing issues (where schedule permits)  Because our hours are limited, it is important that any requests for in-class workshops are arranged in advance.

Meet with the Coordinator to discuss strategies for planning successful writing projects in your courses (group work, staged papers, in-class writing, feedback on writing, peer editing). The current Writing Centre Coordinator has 25 years experience editing academic texts and teaching writing to students across arts, sciences, and professional programs

Place linked writing help on your Moodle sites or in your assignments:

Suggest a gap or service that we can fill: If there are any workshop topics, handouts, or other resources you would like to see developed, tell us.
