Carpool Bulletin Board for Mount Faculty, Staff, Students
Effective February 2, Metro Transit employees are on strike. Bus and ferry service throughout HRM is no longer available.
Many Mount students, faculty and staff rely on HRM's public transportation system to access campus and we recognize this is
a stressful situation. The Mount community is known for looking out for one another. This is a time when we need to be
creative in finding ways to support our colleagues and students.
The Mount will continue to monitor information as it becomes available, and encourage all members of our community to
stay abreast of updates by visiting HRMs website http://www.halifax.ca/metrotransit, by following them on Twitter @hfxtransit
or by phoning (902) 490-4000.
Carpooling
The Mount has created a student, faculty and staff carpool resource through which Mount community members can offer or
seek out alternative transportation. To log in, use your MSVU provided username and password (used by my Mount,
Webmail and WebAdvisor). For members of the general community (those without an MSVU login), HRM has Smart Trip, a
ride-matching system. To log in, create a username and password at hrmsmarttrip.ca
Parking On-Campus
We are asking anyone who is new to parking on campus to check in at the Assisi security desk upon arrival. For February 2
and 3, security will issue a pass at no charge, but you must check in first. If the strike continues into the following week, for
each week beginning February 6, week-long (Monday to Friday), non-refundable parking passes will be available for purchase
at a reduced rate of $10.00.
Classes and Academic Response
Classes and other academic activities are continuing as usual. In the case that students, despite their best efforts, are
unable to make it to campus during the transit strike, they are encouraged to contact their professors.
