Information Technology

New students will not be admitted to this program for the 2009-2010 academic year.
A Diploma in Information Technology provides an opportunity for students in all disciplines to develop their skills in information technology. All diploma credits may be applied toward the Bachelor of Applied Arts (Information Technology) degree (see page ).

Admission requirements for the Diploma in Information Technology are the same as for the Bachelor of Applied Arts (Information Technology). Refer to pages and for admission requirements. Transfer or non-degree students must have a GPA of 2.0 over three full units.

To transfer into this program, students must receive specific permission from the Registrar.

The Diploma in Information Technology is available to students in degree programs. Both the diploma and degree may be taken concurrently. If taken concurrently, the Principles Governing the Awarding of Multiple Credentials will be in effect. If not earned concurrently, the University regulations regarding a second credential will be in effect. Students are advised to review these regulations on page during program planning and completion.

Program RequirementsA Diploma in Information Technology requires completion of the six units required for the Certificate in Information Technology (see page ) as well as the following additional six units:

Required Courses (6 units)
INTE 2263/ CMPS 2263 Introduction to Web Design and Developmenthalf unit
INTE courses, including one half-unit at the 3000-level two and one-half units
Arts or science courses (excluding CMPS courses) one unit
BUSI courses two units

Due to the nature of the content of the required courses in the program, the following courses will not be accepted for credit in the program: BUSI/THMT 2202, BUSI 2255 and BUSI 3305.

Note: Students who wish to continue beyond the Diploma in Information Technology may apply for admission to the Bachelor of Applied Arts (Information Technology) degree program. Students will have the option of doing three co-op terms or of entering the practica route. In addition, students should review the degree program requirements on page of this Calendar and consult with an advisor to select the remaining eight units of credit required for completion of the degree.
