Nancy Chesworth is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Business and Tourism and Hospitality Management at Mount St. Vincent University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her main teaching and research interests concern sustainable tourism planning and development with a focus on ecotourism, and the impacts of climate change and demographics on tourism in the present and future. Current research interests include the life cycle of tourism in Nova Scotia, the use of social media in tourism and climate change adaptation strategies. Dr. Chesworth has led or participated in tourism assessment and/or sustainable development projects in Canada, the Caribbean, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Her consulting work includes studies of service quality, event impact, tourism business viability and secret shopper research.
Nancy has been an invited keynote speaker, conference presenter and workshop facilitator for numerous academic, community, not-for-profit and private organizations. At the request of media, she has been interviewed by many television and radio stations in Canada, the Caribbean and New Zealand. She has served on the Board of Directors of the St. Margaret’s Bay Regional Tourism Association, and the management board of the Centre for Women in Business and a variety of community organizations.
